A WOMAN who tragically died after falling off a bridge in Wilmslow has been named.

An inquest has been opened into the death of Michelle Rose, of Trafford Road, Alderley Edge.

The 62-year-old had been suffering from mental health illness for a number of years, Cheshire Coroner’s Court, in Warrington, heard on Wednesday.

On the afternoon of Saturday, April 6, this year, Mrs Rose 'fell from a bridge onto the A34’ at Birrell Way and died at the scene, the hearing was told.

Emergency services including an air ambulance, police and paramedics rushed to the scene shortly before 1.30pm.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said at the time: "Sadly, despite the best efforts of all those involved, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene."

Mrs Rose was identified by her brother-in-law.

Victoria Davies, area coroner for Cheshire, opened the inquest and adjourned the case until August 2.

There will be an internal review on June 23.
